Bubba Kush

Bubba Kush

“The Indica queen par excellence”

Obviously one cannot say for sure, but  Bubba Kush may just be the most
internationally acclaimed Indica plant to date.
According to stoner lore, the origin story of Bubba Kush goes a little
something like this: a long-long time ago (during the ’90s), somewhere in Los
Angeles lived a grower known as “Bubba”. He and his other grower friends
embarked on an epic quest to breed the best marijuana strain known to man.
And so, Bubba created the Bubba Kush cross by chance. He claimed that
while one parent was an OG Kush plant, the other was an unnamed Northern
Lights phenotype brought back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans; which the
group of misfits dubbed “Bubba”, after its owner. It is believed that, sadly, this
strain later magically disappeared. BK quickly became the most sought-after
green and famous rapper, Cypress Hill’s, favourite smoke. You might even
hear some people say that, during this “Bubba-mania”, one could easily sell
500g for US$8000!

One can only appreciate and admire the beauty of this plant. A frosty coating
of white trichomes covers the colourful leaves, and when buds are broken
open, these are even visible on the inside.

Discreet users, please take note: Whether you live at your mom’s or another
shared space or whatever your reason for keeping your smoking habits on the
DL, BK is not recommended when sneaking a quick bong. What we have here
is a particularly pungent strain, which is difficult to denote and hits the nose a
bit differently for everyone. Descriptions vary from hints of coffee and
chocolate, petrol and dust, to dirty feet. I am told that the taste is earthy and
nutty, a flavour much like that of hash and the smoke is thick and plentiful.

As one would expect from the queen of Indicas, prepare yourself for the
ultimate body high. Couch lock is almost inevitable, so best you have a variety
of snacks and liquids within reach. Watermelon is definitely on my list of
recommended munchies – always a pleasurable taste experience and it
assists in keeping hydration levels up. “Laggies” is apparently not uncommon,
even for experienced users.

Cannabis testing lab Qure Analytical Laboratory found flowers of this strain to
consist of 16.9% THC.

BK has strong sedative and muscle relaxant properties. This makes it good
for conditions of musculoskeletal pain such as chronic back pain, arthritis,
muscle spasms, sciatica, and fibromyalgia. The relaxing effect may also be
useful for those suffering from depression, ADD, and ADHD. The ability to
induce sleep is great for insomnia sufferers, but not-so-great if you decide to
wake and bake but have plans first thing.
