Queen’s Sugar

Queen’s Sugar, clocking in at 17.2% THC, is an indoor cultivar propagated with hydroponic salts, originating from crossing Oreoz with Sophisticated Lady. Oreoz, also known as “Oreo Cookies” or “Oreos”, originates from breeding Cookies and Cream with Secret Weapon. Sophisticated Lady is bred from Ghost OG x Grateful Breath.

Let’s explore the genealogical rabbit hole further:

Cookies and Cream
Also known as “Cookies ‘n Cream”, this strain is a cross between Starfighter and an undisclosed GSC (Girl Scout Cookies) phenotype. Starfighter combines genetics from Alien Tahoe OG and Lemon Alien Dawg, while GSC was spawned from Jigga, a Californian breeder, who crossed a sub-type of OG Kush with F1 Durban; an intermediate (ie, mid-tier) cultivar.

Secret Weapon
Hybridised from Cheese Quake and White Widow. Cheese Quake by Subcool’s The Dank, is Cheese x Querkle, with White Widow being a descendant of a Brazilian landrace Sativa and a heavily resinous South Indian indica.

Ghost OG
Also referred to as “Ghost OG Kush”, it’s derived from OG Kush. The latter may go by the name of “Premium OG Kush”, and was first cultivated in in Florida, US, in the ‘90s, when a plant from Northern California was said to be bred with Chemdawg, Lemon Thai, and Hindu Kush originating from Holland.

Grateful Breath
A Gage Green Group original, this plant is parented by OG Kush Breath x Joseph OG. OG Kush Breath (OGKB) is believed to be a descendant of GSC, while Joseph OG―a male strain―is another product from the Group, and was apparently found as a bag seed from Underdawg OG.

Queen’s Sugar is likely in the range of 60% Indica and 40% Sativa, given its predominantly revitalising yet relaxing effects. The nose reveals top notes of pine and lemon (attributed to the limonene terpene), with earthy musk, clove, and licorice scents also becoming apparent. Upon closer inspection, the flowers aren’t overly dense, are light green in colour (and occasionally purple) displaying orange stigmas (or pistil “hairs”), and boast a beautifully pronounced calyx (or bract) reminiscent of oregano. Trichomes are abundant, although largely camouflaged by the pollinous nature of this genetic, with the drying method rendering the flowers brittle.

Upon combustion, the smooth toke has flavor reminiscent of roasted fruit. Experientially, it’s simultaneously energising, while also imparting a pronounced sense of relaxation, with visual and audio enhancement exhibited. Serving as a potent mood elevator, and inducing pronounced euphoria, the resulting impression is akin to the elation felt when celebrating your birthday or winning the jackpot, accompanied by a cheerful Cheshire Cat grin. Biologically, this effect is attributed to cannabinoids influencing the brain’s reward processing system, stimulating serotonin, dopamine, and/or 5-HT receptors. This flower produces a high-energy “rush”, comparable to the feeling of surfing a wave, which keeps on going and going (see graph), with aphrodisiac qualities also becoming apparent. The happiness produced is exhilarating, prompting exclamations of “oh, wow” throughout the experience, yet leaves coordination negatively impacted. This AAA-grade top-shelf variety’s joyous juvenile energy has the potential to alleviate symptoms of depression, fostering a sense of being deserving of love, akin to the transformational potential of entactogens/empathogens. Undoubtedly serving as spiritual medicine by having the capacity to bring more love into the world, this genetic would be an appropriate recommendation to those suffering from PTSD, and similar symptoms. In conclusion, Queen’s Sugar enhances creative thinking, stimulates appetite and aids sleep, with little to no associated paranoia, but slows cognition. Note, however, that the effect of slowed thinking would benefit those suffering from hyperactive minds or similar neurological conditions.

The presentation includes a corked glass jar equipped with a 58% RH (Relative Humidity) terpene shield. Maintaining proper moisture levels is crucial for preserving the flower’s terpenes and potency. These shields precisely regulate the moisture within the container so as to prevent degradation or mold.
